Abstract
This study fills a gap in existing literature by conducting a scoping review of Google Scholar (2017-2024). This study aims to examine the impacts of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Previous research did not fully explore these events. The study is to analyze several dimensions, like the economic, cultural, infrastructure, tourism, and hotel-related impacts of the World Cups in Russia and Qatar. The study will contribute significantly to the existing knowledge in this field. This study employed the scoping review method to define the goals, select Google Scholar, set search terms, screen literature, extract and verify data, and then analyze it. The findings reveal that 14 articles were discovered (5 on the 2018 World Cup and 9 on the 2022 World Cup), with the majority of publishing occurring in 2019 and 2023. The effects encompass economic factors such as Qatar's GDP expansion, cultural transformations, and infrastructure advancements. The economic consequences encompass multiple aspects, with growth and enhancements observed in the tourism and hospitality industries. These findings may assist future studies regarding the World Cup and its 2026 host.
