The two broad currents of changes in formal higher education this study focuses on are: ‘the shift from teacher-centred to learner-centred educational approaches’, and ‘integration of information and communication technologies.’ The policy documents that are chosen to analyse in this essay are those of the University of Glasgow and the University of Manchester. This study found three claims that supported Learner centre Education, and the development of technology expanded students' access to education and challenging traditional teaching ways. UOG's policies reflect more first current of changes than UOM's, while UOM's policies reflect more second current of changes than UOG's. The first current of change is more explicitly reflected in UOG's education policy and is only implicit in UOM's policy. UOG regards technologies as flexibility to education, while UOM regards technologies as the fundamental support for new education. However, both the policies of UOG and UOM need to take more into account the challenges and response strategies brought about by these educational changes, and further refine their educational strategies to improve feasibility.
In today’s digital era, media technology is critical in shaping modern society. Accompanied by the rapid development of digital technology, the functions and roles of the media have undergone tremendous changes, and the speed, quality, and ways in which people access information have undergone unprecedented changes. Advances in media technology have reshaped how people interact with the outside world and profoundly impacted culture, cognition, and identity. Bernard Stiegle's media technology theory provides a theoretical framework for re-examining the relationship between humans and technology from a technological perspective. Stiegle argues that technology is both a tool for human development and the second origin of human beings. By proposing the theory of 'tertiary retention,' the crucial role of technology in the externalization of memory is revealed. Technology acts as both an antidote and a poison, facilitating the progress of human society and posing significant risks. In the digital age, changes in media technology have brought about problems such as cultural homogenization, identity crisis, and “systemic ignorance” and even led to the “proletarianization” of social consciousness. Stiegler's theory criticizes the logic of capitalism behind digital technology and argues that human beings must re-examine their relationship with technology to avoid falling into a technologically dominated cultural dilemma.
This article describes the inequality distribution of music education resources in Zhejiang Province, such as the difference in music classroom facilities and music teaching equipment, and makes a statistical analysis of the data. Zhejiang Province has a high level of economic development compare with other Chinese provinces and the music facilities in the urban areas are great. Compared with rural schools, students in the urban area have more music learning opportunities and resources. However, for students in rural areas, the venues and conditions for music activities are limited, and it is difficult to meet the needs of students' music education requirements, so their level of music training is relatively low. Based on the differences between urban and rural schools in Jiaxing and Haining cities in Zhejiang Province, the essay describes that there are certain differences between urban and rural schools. Urban schools have more perfect facilities and equipment, and they can invest a lot of money in education, while rural schools are relatively backward in facilities and lack of educational resources.
Educational inequity has always been an issue that needs to be addressed in every country. However, due to the differences in social backgrounds and educational systems, the approaches taken by China and the United States are not the same. This study compares the differences in education between China and the United States through the research methods of case study and literature review, based on the study of the policies and programs of China and the United States to address this issue. China's educational assistance has narrowed the urban-rural education gap in a short period of time, and there is instability in teaching resources. Teachers' teaching skills need to be improved and educational resources optimized to ensure that the benefits of educational assistance are maximized. In the United States, inclusive education aims to ensure that all children have equal access to education, but there are still problems in practice, and there is a need to strengthen the protection of minorities so as to ensure a balanced allocation of teaching resources.
With the advancement of media and the proliferation of new digital platforms, the Internet has become the primary channel through which individuals access information. However, this shift has also heightened the likelihood of people believing and sharing misinformation. This article explores the relationship between personality traits and the propensity to believe and share misinformation. Through a comprehensive literature review, the associations between the Big Five personality traits and misinformation are analyzed and summarized. The findings suggest that extraversion is positively associated with the belief in and sharing of misinformation, whereas conscientiousness and agreeableness are negatively associated with these behaviors. In contrast, openness to experience and neuroticism do not show a significant relationship with misinformation, belief, or sharing. At the specific period, extroversion, openness to experience and neuroticism show the positive relationship with misinformation believing. Moreover, extroversion has positive relationship with misinformation sharing during epidemic period. Effective interventions to mitigate the belief in and sharing of misinformation can include strategies such as leveraging social norms, peer influence, and promoting critical thinking. However, these interventions should be tailored to align with different personality traits to maximize their effectiveness.
The chuanqi (legendary stories) of Tang Dynasty are widely recognized as a milestone that marks a new stage in the history of Chinese fiction. During this period, the Tang Dynasty adopted a religious policy that allowed Buddhism and Daoism to coexist, leading both religions to reach their historical peaks of prosperity. In the texts of Tang chuanqi, Buddhist thought is also endowed with profound meaning. This paper aims to conduct a detailed analysis of the stylistic features, literary themes, and character outcomes in five classic Tang Legends from the Anthology of Tang and Song Tales, including The World Inside a Pillow, The Governor of Nanke (or An Account of the Governor of the Southern Branch), An Account of Xie Xiao’e, The Tale of Li Zhangwu, and The Tale of Miss Liu. Through this analysis, the study preliminarily explores the Buddhist cultural connotations contained within these works. The significance of this research lies in revealing the profound influence of Buddhist culture in Tang Dynasty literature, promoting a deeper understanding of the stylistic features, literary motifs, and character outcomes of Tang chuanqi, providing valuable insights for contemporary literary creation.
In recent years, the convergence of content and form between different media has become a significant trend. Online dramas, as an emerging media form based on streaming platforms, have developed rapidly since their inception, greatly impacting the market landscape of television dramas and films. Due to the inherent characteristics of streaming platforms, online dramas feature high market segmentation and expansive creative space. Many works have explored various content and form integrations, incorporating elements from other audiovisual art forms and reconstructing traditional television drama formats. Notably, the influences of films, short videos, and games on the shape of online dramas are most pronounced, demonstrating profound media convergence.
In daily life, many individuals hesitate to choose their preferred dressing style due to concerns about negative comments from those around them. This article discusses how to create a more inclusive environment and alleviate these concerns through investigation and research. A total of 200 valid responses were collected from Beijing residents, including 87 males and 113 females. The results indicated no significant gender difference in attitudes toward freedom of dressing (P = 0.051). Correlation tests revealed that open personality traits (r = .263, p < .001), rule awareness (r = .526, p < .001), and the level of perceived social support (r = .329, p < .001) are significantly positively correlated with Beijing residents' attitudes toward freedom of dress. Enhancing these factors may help reduce individuals' concerns, thereby increasing their freedom to choose their attire. People's right to dress freely should be respected as long as it does not violate laws or personal rules.
Because of the shifting position of women in society, attitudes toward femininity have changed rapidly over the last century. This paper discusses the performance of femininity from the social perspective of women and men. In today's rapid development of feminism, people have different attitudes towards femininity. These different views stem from their different positions and educational backgrounds. This paper uses the literature research method and quantitative research. It also explores the distinction between traditional and authentic femininity, the confusion these concepts create for women, the advantages and disadvantages of traditional femininity, and modern women’s acceptance or rejection of these views. Additionally, the paper considers men’s perspectives on both traditional and modern femininity. The conclusion of this paper is that the existence of traditional femininity is not unnecessary. The existence of these qualities is not wrong, and many of them are beautiful, and they are also the beauty of women.
Lin Daiyu and Jane Eyre are both well-known characters in world literature. Though they are created by writers from different cultures in different times, many studies have found that they have many similarities and worth comparing. However, there is a lack of comprehensive understanding in Lin Daiyu and Jane Eyre's similarities and differences as well as the factors that influence them. Aiming to compare Lin Daiyu and Jane Eyre experiences and characteristics roundly, this essay not only summarizes previous studies, but also divides into three aspects to compare Lin Daiyu and Jare Eyre, which are personalities, love experiences and growth environment. It is found that Lin Daiyu and Jane Eyre both respect themselves as well as others, with strong self-esteem and the value of equality. At the same time, they both show their courage to resist unreasonable things in society. They both pursue pure love without material desires, while Lin Daiyu regards love as more important than Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre's harsh growth environment with simple relationships gives her tenacity, while Lin Daiyu's seemingly enjoyable growth environment with complicated relationships makes her more sensitive. The different experiences and values of the writers also have a significant influence on the characters they create. Comparing two famous characters from different cultures allows us to learn more about the themes of great literature works and witness the image of a group of people from different historical background.
