This study provides an in-depth discussion of the effects of racial discrimination in the United States on blacks when it comes to job searching and job advancement. Compared to Whites, blacks are inlcined to be more satisfied with their employment, but they have more difficulty finding jobs, and most of them are inclined to be in lower level jobs and slow to advance. Racial discrimination affects society in many ways. White racists can have a large impact on blacks so it is crucial to understand this impact. Previously, racial discrimination in the U.S. would have a large impact on the daily lives (work, participation in activities, range of socialization, living, living environment) of blacks-who generally clustered in a certain neighborhood with a crowded environment. Now, although this phenomenon has improved since the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1862, it’s still prevalent and there have been few changes. For this reason this essay investigates the extent to which racial discrimination affects black jobs in the United States and calls for more attention to racial discrimination and equal treatment of each race.

COVID-19 affects not only the physical health but also the mental well-being of many people, including children and adolescents. Since these are the people who are of vital importance to the future development of human society , their mental health condition is worth studying. This project is to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the level of anxiety and depression in children and adolescents from a psychological perspective. The extended project concludes that COVID-19 does increase the level of anxiety and depression in the target population, despite some positive impacts. This dissertation below will discuss how and why personal, societal, and familial factors influence level of anxiety and depression among children and adolescents during the pandemic and suggests that researchers should focus on the long-term effects of COVID-19 and approaches to reduce anxiety and depression following the pandemic.

This paper investigates the impact of idealized images used in clothing brands on teenage girls. The role of teenage girls in the clothing market is explored as well as how adverts are consumed. The use of idealized images is compared with other marketing strategies such as social validation. Both economic and psychological impacts of the use of idealized images are discussed. This paper concludes that although there are positive economic advantages to idealized images these are limited and are not as impactful as other strategies. However, the psychological impact is resoundingly negative. This has the implication that protection is needed for teenage girls from adverts as firms use them to increase sales.

It's no exaggeration to say that data-driven journalism has taken off in the era of the Internet. Data analytics and visualisation tools help journalists uncover more in-depth insights into their stories and present complex information in a more easily understandable way. There are different ways to collect, analyse and visualise data. Various tools, from Web scraping to sophisticated coding or modelling are used depending on the topic, data type, and objectives the journalist wants to achieve with them. The purpose of this paper is to showcase the techniques and applications in data-driven journalism, and to offer a concise overview of the topic. It is clear from the case studies and technological development presented below that data journalism does have a transformative power in helping to tell better stories and to better engage audiences by offering more context to important issues. Of course, one of the greatest challenges for data journalism is the traditional problem journalists have in general: accuracy, humanity, and context. These are as important as ever in the data age. The purpose of this paper is to showcase the techniques and applications in data-driven journalism, and to offer a concise overview of the topic.

Work satisfaction is the emotional orientation that an employee holds toward their work. Prior researchers found that teachers in Chinese schools tend to have low job satisfaction and high turnover intention. However, the factors influencing job satisfaction among teachers in China is not well examined. There is a lack of attention to teachers in private schools in China. The importance of work-family conflict and optimism among employees were emphasized in prior studies, but few studies were conducted among Chinese middle school teachers. It is unclear how work-family conflict influence teachers’ wellbeing and performance. This study investigates the relationship between optimism, work-family conflict, and job satisfaction among middle school teachers in private schools in China. Utilizing a quantitative research design, the study surveyed 380 private middle school teachers in Changsha, China. Data analysis reveals that higher levels of optimism are associated with lower levels of work-family conflict and higher job satisfaction. Optimism was found to negatively impact job satisfaction, and mediates the relationship of work-family conflict and job satisfaction. These findings suggest that fostering optimism among teachers may mitigate the adverse effects of work-family conflict, thereby enhancing their job satisfaction. The study provides implications for school administrators and policymakers aiming to improve teacher well-being and effectiveness by addressing work-family balance and promoting a positive outlook.

Climate warming is a global issue of great concern, with extreme weather events occurring more frequently, forcing residents of some developing countries to leave their homes and livelihoods. However, due to the current inadequacies in the international legal framework, these groups find it difficult to obtain relief and are often turned away by other countries. This paper reviews the current legislative achievements related to the protection of “climate refugees” within international human rights law, international refugee law, and international environmental law. From the perspective of international environmental law, it summarizes the challenges faced in protecting “climate refugees,” such as the absence of substantive environmental rights, the limited recognition of the justiciability of human rights-based environmental cases, and the difficulty in identifying responsible parties. Based on the current international legal framework, this paper analyzes the protection pathways for this new category of refugees from the perspective of international environmental law.

Autobiographical memory (AM) represents a vital facet of human cognition, encompassing personal experiences and specific life events. This review traces AM development from infancy through childhood, beginning with episodic autobiographical memories (EAM) as AM's building blocks, leading to the emergence of AM. Neuroimaging studies are included to review the neurodevelopment of EAM and AM, highlighting the involvement of the frontal cortex and temporal lobes in these processes. The review extensively discusses three major theoretical models: the Social Cultural Developmental Theory, the Model of Culturally Situated Autobiographical Memory Development, and the Bio-Psycho-Social Model. These models are examined to understand cross-cultural differences in AM specificity, particularly focusing on the influence of social interactions, self-goals, language, emotion knowledge, and maternal reminiscing styles. The review also selects empirical studies from the last four years (2020-2024) that provide further support and evidence for these models. These studies underscore the influence of cultural contexts on AM development and highlight cultural differences in positive and negative memory recall, maternal reminiscing styles, and their impact on children's AM development, emphasizing the complex interplay of neural, cognitive, social, and cultural factors in shaping autobiographical memory.

In daily life, children often get used to staying late or even staying up late because of the rebellion of adolescent psychology against the non-mandatory rules formulated by the family. To explore the legal effect of such rules, this article analyzes the regulation of bedtime according to customary law. The two criteria of discretion and strategic non-enforcement are used to support the reason why customary laws (incorporate the bedtime rule made by the parents) have real legal effects. Through legal case studies and the comparison and contraction of disobeying regulated bedtime, the author admits that such rules sometimes can be criticized, which jeopardizes the characteristics of enforcement and credibility for laws with certain unfairness and lack of enforcement. However, they can be refuted based on the progressive principle, the dynamic balance between rules and discretion, and another theoretical basis. Given the disputes raised in this paper, the author also put forward the corresponding improvement measures after each refutation. To put it in a nutshell, the author thinks that the family rules produced in the absence of hard punishment like the regulated bedtime.

The introduction of Confucius and Confucianism in the French version of the documentary Hello, China plays a crucial role in promoting traditional Chinese Confucian culture to French-speaking countries. By using French as the narration language for the documentary, it facilitates the dissemination of Confucianism to French-speaking nations, particularly in Francophone Africa. This paper adopts a multimodal text analysis approach to explore how the documentary Hello, China constructs Confucius’ personal image and his Confucian identity, as well as how it spreads Confucian culture overseas. Through analysis, the study aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the documentary, thereby suggesting ways to improve the global dissemination of Confucianism and promoting its broader and deeper outreach.
