Abstract

The League of Nations, as the first worldwide political organization in history, holds undeniable significance. It served as a crucial platform for China’s engagement in international affairs following the First World War and played a pivotal role in China’s modernization process. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the research conducted by Chinese scholars on the League of Nations since the Republic of China era. It categorizes the prevailing academic attitudes towards the League of Nations, ranging from positive to somewhat one-sidedly positive. However, it is important to note that the historical research on the League of Nations within the Chinese academic community has not been fully exhaustive, with certain aspects still remaining overlooked. The purpose of this paper is to present novel ideas and directions for future studies on this organization.
