This study is to examine correlations between foreign language enjoyment (FLE), expectancy-value enjoyment, and English competence of Chinese university students. A questionnaire was used to collect information from 74 Chinese non-English major college students about their FLE, expectancy-value motivation, and their English competence. According to the findings, the mean FLE of Chinese university students is 5.491, showing moderate to high levels of FLE, and the teacher factor is the highest scoring dimension (the mean is 5.982). The teacher appreciation and social environment (the mean is 5.428) are more prominent than the personal enjoyment factor (the mean is 5.065). Besides, in the expectancy-value motivation dimension, achievement value and utility value are most prominent. As far as the relationship between FLE and expectancy-value motivation of Chinese university students is concerned, the results show a significant positive relationship between the two (except for cost value), thus indicating that FLE increases with motivation. Specifically, FLE has the most significant positive relationship with intrinsic value and expectancy beliefs. The Amos path analysis concludes that in the FLE dimension, personal enjoyment factors can indirectly affect students' English competence in addition to directly positively correlating with expectancy-value motivation, which highlights the important influence of personal factors on foreign language learning.

The housewife used to be a marginalized social role. But nowadays, with the advancement of technology and the development of social media, Many housewives choose to share their domestic life, making this role the focus of public opinion, and housewife videos have become a kind of landscape. At the same time, the consciousness of gender equality and female independence has been on the rise, and whether the image of housewives should be encouraged has aroused a lot of discussion. This paper uses the literature method and case analysis method to deeply analyze the videos and comments of housewife bloggers on social media. The study finds that the audience evaluates housewives with the attitude of rulers, among which whether to encourage women to become housewives was the biggest controversy, and there is even a "group imitation" of housewives. The conclusion is that the diversity of evaluation views is related to the historical development of China, and group imitation is a substitute practice. This phenomenon shows that housewives are recognized as a profession but lack respect and do not get rid of the patriarchal gaze. Housewives are recognized as a profession but lack respect and do not get rid of the patriarchal gaze.

Statistics show that there is one disabled person in every 17 people in China. Although in real life, people with disabilities are not evenly distributed in the same physical space as the able-bodied group, in the decentralized online society that eliminates the physical space separation, more and more people with disabilities are recording and sharing their lives and using self-media to present themselves. If the able-bodied group does not have the opportunity to contact and understand the life and inner world of the disabled group in real life, this distance is being bridged with the empowerment of individuals by social media. This paper attempts to focus on the online performances of disabled groups, and borrows Goffman’s self-presentation theory to study the images, ways and changes of disabled bloggers’ self-presentation with videos. Through the content analysis method, this paper paints a portrait of disabled bloggers and analyzes their narratives. Through in-depth interviews, it explores the inner thoughts and changes of disabled people in the process of self-presentation. Rethink what should be done to make the disabled group live a more dignified and happy life. It may also help the disabled groups clarify their complex psychological feelings in self-presentation and not let the collapse of the Internet context and the loss of control of public opinion affect their positive mindset.

Population ageing poses an important challenge to China's social development and is a significant factor impeding social advancement. In recent years, the implementation of policies such as the rural Dibao project has improved the living conditions of rural empty-nesters. Due to the migration of many rural workers to urban areas, the traditional Chinese family model of old-age care has been weakened, resulting in a severe dearth of social support, particularly emotional support, for rural empty-nesters. Examining the emotional support of rural empty-nesters is essential for advancing rural old-age security, particularly geriatric social work. Based on the social support theory, this research employs the casework method in social work methodology, along with a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews. After investigating the emotional support situation of empty-nesters in Village S, Hunan Province, three representative rural empty-nesters were chosen as casework recipients and in-depth interviews were conducted regarding the status of their emotional support, the problems they faced, and their emotional needs. All three recipients lacked emotional support to varying degrees, according to the findings. This paper examines how the casework approach in social work can effectively improve the emotional support system and enhance the quality of life of empty-nesters in rural China by providing them with targeted services.

School bullying is a very common social problem that exists on campus nowadays, and many students have experienced it. By analyzing the consequences of school bullying, more people can be warned not to do so. Identifying the factors behind school bullying can allow people to come up with effective solutions and reduce the frequency of this type of violence in schools. There are many causes of school bullying, but they can all be classified into three broad categories, which are the differences of victims, inappropriate peer culture and lack of education in both schools and families. The unique qualities of victims make them targets for bullies, bad group culture can lead to the aggravation of this type of behavior, and a lack of education is the root cause of this type of behavior. Therefore, schools and governments should set rules and penalties for school bullying. In addition, families and schools also need to strengthen education in this regard and make them aware of the wrongness of such behavior. People need to work together to end bullying in schools and create a healthier learning environment for students.

With the development of the Internet, various types of online we-media platforms have become the main channels for underage Internet users for their everyday entertainment and information acquisition. An increasing number of teenagers are choosing to operate their own social media accounts. While the Internet gives teenagers a broader and more diversified platform to display themselves, it also brings positive and negative impacts on their mental health. The study focuses on the exploration of the motivations, perceptions, influences, and gender differences of adolescents to operate we-media accounts and to be peer viewers of other adolescents' accounts in the context of a high internet penetration rate. The results show that teenagers' overall motivation for operating we-media accounts and being a peer audience is more for entertainment and obtaining information, and less for competing with their peers. The study further concluded that there are large gender differences in the effects of following peer media accounts on peer pressure. Questionnaires were used as well as reading of relevant literature to help gather information and data for the study and to make statistical and comparative analyses.

Several earlier investigations addressed the connection between motivation and anxiety, but there are scant studies focusing on their relationship in English learning. This study examines how anxiety interacts with motivation in Chinese students’ learning English. Participants were 51 college students in Sichuan province in China. In this study, a questionnaire including an anxiety scale and a motivation scale was used to collect data, which was analyzed by SPSS. This research used descriptive statistic and correlation analysis. The three links between motivation, anxiety, and extrinsic and intrinsic motivation are the key conclusions of this study. The findings indicate a strong inverse relationship between motivation and anxiety. Anxiety and intrinsic motivation significantly correlated negatively, according to additional studies, while anxiety showed no correlation with extrinsic motivation. What’s more, the results indicate that among college students, only the extrinsic motivation-social is at a low level, while the levels of other motivations are relatively high. The findings can provide college teachers and students with a deeper understanding about anxiety and motivation in Englis learning to improve the effectiveness of learning English and assist them in managing the connection between anxiety and motivation.

This research paper delves into an in-depth analysis of the legislative framework surrounding carbon taxation within the broader context of environmental protection taxes. It places a keen focus on how these policies can play a pivotal role in combatting climate change while also assessing their potential ramifications on sustainable development strategies. The paper meticulously scrutinizes the hurdles and prospects associated with the effective implementation of carbon taxes, shedding light on their systemic importance and their capacity to catalyze the production of cleaner, more sustainable fuels. In a comparative examination, this study contrasts the legislative structures governing carbon tax within the environmental protection tax regimes of the People’s Republic of China and the United Kingdom. This involves a comprehensive evaluation of the legal foundations, tax bases, tax rates, and the allocation of tax revenues in both jurisdictions. Ultimately, the findings reveal distinct approaches to carbon tax legislation in these two nations. The paper not only underscores the differences but also recommends judicious legislative adaptations that can strike a harmonious balance between environmental efficacy and economic feasibility, thus fostering a sustainable future.
