Now, with the development of the Internet, advanced communication technology continuously extends and expands people’s senses. Notwithstanding such a mind-boggling data society, individuals are handily caught in the pseudo climate developed by mass correspondence. The orientation jobs characterized by society are additionally communicated in various ways in the media. The media often portrays men as strong, brave, and capable of decision-making, while women are portrayed as weak, dependent, and gentle. This media promotion not only affects people’s way of thinking but also affects society’s perception and evaluation of gender roles. When orientation generalizations are shaped, they are hard to break and can altogether affect individuals’ mental cycles. Through small-scale interviews, this study aims to investigate TikTok’s gender stereotypes. The examination subjects were a 17-year-old male and a 17-year-old female secondary school understudy, a 40-year-elderly person and a 40-year-elderly person. The results show that Tiktok has a positive impact on male and female stereotypes of high school students. The two high school students agreed that watching Tiktok helped them eliminate some inherent stereotypes. The two middle-aged people unanimously said that watching Tiktok eliminated some of their inherent stereotypes. The significance of the research is that the images of men and women presented by the media become more realistic and reasonable in terms of social roles, allowing women to truly break free from the stereotypes brought about by this deeply rooted patriarchal discourse.
This paper intends to explore the precarious masculinity in the celebrated sitcom Friends by considering it alongside the urbanization in the United States in the 1990s, which was overlapped with the development of post-feminism, neoliberalism, and the third industry. This paper intends to show that masculinity in Friends is demonstrated as precarious and instable, whose preservation relies on the repetition of certain gendered rituals, acts and ornamentations. This is because body politics, shaped by discourses about urban masculinity operates in a subtle way in Friends, governing and regulating the male characters, which leads to their self-scrutiny against homosexuality and femininity. A celebrated cultural icon, Friends continues to attract audiences around the world and its popularity can be taken as a projection of the nostalgia/expectations of a prosperous era. However, it is important to understand that Friends should be viewed as representations of a certain era, instead of an icon of universal values and expectations of lifestyles, because values regarding gender, race, and identity are no longer appropriate today and neoliberal boom which provided the context for Friends has already suffered from a bankruptcy.
In today’s rapidly evolving market, understanding consumer psychology is crucial for businesses to effectively promote their products and entice customers to make purchases. Building upon the analysis conducted by Balci and the fifteen other articles on market psychology, this article delves deeper into the various components of advertising, methods of promotion, and the effectiveness and practicality of product promotion in different contexts. Moreover, it explores how visuals, sounds, and celebrity endorsements influence consumers’ desire to purchase, and how cultural differences between Eastern and Western societies shape consumers’ perception of products. The power of visuals in advertising cannot be underestimated. Marketers have long understood the impact of visually appealing advertisements on consumers’ decision-making processes. Visual stimuli can evoke emotional responses, which in turn influence consumers’ desire to purchase a product. The combination of visuals and sounds can create a powerful sensory experience, making the advertisement more memorable and persuasive.
This paper will examine and debunk some of the negative claims that many US and Western media outlets made regarding the Belt and Road Initiative (One Belt One Road, or BRI). There are plenty of articles published by news organizations in the US that claim China has used unfair measures to take advantage of the host countries, including the debt-trapping of Sri Lanka. This paper will seek to examine and debunk some of the claims that are prejudiced or factually incorrect. To prove the argument of this paper, articles from US and Western newspapers have been examined. After recording the claims of these articles, these claims will try to be corroborated or debunked by looking at how media from the host countries regard and respond to the issue. After the examination, the claim of the debt-trap of Sri Lanka in the Hambantota Port Deal has been proven as improbable. This is because a large number of their domestic media and studies about Sri Lanka reveal that the project actually benefited Sri Lanka by creating a large number of jobs and funding. In addition, the deal seems to have been initiated by Sri Lankan politicians, removing the fault completely from China. Media in other countries such as Myanmar, Cambodia and Pakistan have also been analyzed, proving a majority positive public opinion towards the BRI.
In the past several years, streaming media has developed rapidly, which also provides a huge stage for cultural transmission. People can learn more about different cultures and enjoy different beautiful scenery by using mobile phones. However, cultural communication is not as easy as expected. The cultural disparities and cultural diversities make it difficult for people with different cultural backgrounds to understand different cultures, and sometimes it even leads to cultural conflict. Translation has always been regarded as a marginal subject. However, in cross-cultural communication, translation is an essential tool, and the importance of translators is far from that of artificial intelligence. The communication between different cultures requires interpreters to exert their subjective initiative. In today’s cultural integration, it is essential to promote cultural communication. On the base of some cross-cultural phenomena, this paper focuses on three aspects to find the better method which can promote cultural communication, promoting a better development for culture.
